Smart Grids | Metal Oxide

Smart Grids with metal oxide coatings offer the unique opportunity to simulate other oxides while using the same SiO2 membrane windows.Product Images - metal oxides - SG (medium) With these Smart Grids, one now has the tools to view and ultimately understand chemical interactions between these oxides and materials which are deposited upon on them for a variety of applications. For example, it is possible to investigate the catalytic properties for adsorbed metal islands on the oxides films. For the first time, it is possible to correlate the actual relationship between interfacial structure (between metal particle and metal oxide) and catalytic performance.

Three different metal oxide coatings are presently available: Al2O3, TiO2, and ZnO. Product Images - No Name Yet (medium) The metal oxide coatings are produced using atomic layer deposition to yield ultrathin coatings that are electron tranparent and adherent to the SiO2 membranes. Metal oxide coating thicknesses are typically 5-10 nm to maintain electron transparency, although custom thicknesses can be produced. Dune Sciences can also produce other metal oxide coatings as a custom service upon request.
